f-words mom let us say: food, family & friends

everyday recipes that will make you feel loved

Inspirational author Sharon Caldwell Peddie and her 3 adult daughters: Kelsey (a lawyer); Kendall (a registered dietitian); and Cami ( strategic communications & graphic design) believe food, family & friends are the most beautiful, meaningful, and nourishing f-words. Their cookbook was created during the Covid-19 pandemic and is a celebration of positivity, resiliency, and creating a beautiful life no matter what life throws at us.

Being together, cooking, creating, and writing their cookbook has been the women's pandemic silver lining. Putting their recipes, experiences, values, philosophies, and memories in writing has felt very powerful to them. It's their positive, productive punch at Covid-19 and kind of a metaphoric f*** you.

"f-words mom let us say" is filled with approachable and inspirational recipes for: sunshiney breakfasts; smart smoothies; soothing, soulful soups; snappy salads; apps + snacks; sides; sunday family dinners; fun nights with friends; and sweets + treats. They believe in whole-body health. This powerful mother/daughters team believes food is nourishment for the mind, body, and soul and that all foods should be enjoyed without a side of guilt. They hope their recipes will boost overall wellbeing and inspire more cooking for yourself and for others too.

They've added some "extra love" in this warm, informative cookbook. Look for Tradition, Complete Meal and Plant-Forward "stickers" on recipes--they indicate a little something extra and special for you. Adding even more love and inspiration to the stickers is space for note-taking.

Sharon is also the Author of "Grow Yourself Beautiful: A Smart Girl's Guide to Following Her Heart and Focusing on Her Inner Joy". Being a mom of 3 daughters, it's been her passion and mission to raise confident women with a strong sense of self in today's challenging world. She believes there are many roads to help build that, and they traveled many of them-from academics, sports, arts, community service, and more. But one of her biggest surprises was seeing how learning to cook proved to be such a powerful road to developing self-love and confidence. They want to share that experience to help others.

The girls grew up in the kitchen with Sharon. They loved creating family meals together, and love a kitchen or backyard full of friends! Hosting dance team celebrations, soccer and volleyball team sleepovers, and backyard dinner parties was a way of life. They've developed traditions around food that have become the fabric of their lives-and their friends' lives too.  Food, family & friends are the most beautiful and meaningful F words. They are the words that life is all about!

A Smart Girl's Guide to Following Her Heart and Focusing on Her Inner Joy 〰️

Young women today are more stressed than many imagine. Society bombards the country’s precious young women with unrealistic expectations of superficial beauty, body type, and hyper overachievement in all areas. These relentless messages begin at younger and younger ages and are harmful to their self-esteem and well-being. Far too many young women suffer from anxiety, depression, eating disorders, sleep issues, bullying, or lack of simple joy. They need help to grow strong with a powerful sense of self and self-love.

In Grow Yourself Beautiful, author Sharon Caldwell Peddie offers a comforting guide to help young women shift focus from these harmful superficial expectations. It empowers them to grow in satisfying, meaningful ways that will bring them joy, inner strength, and true beauty.

A mother who has raised three daughters, Peddie uses the letters in the word “beautiful” to deliver solid advice. She helps girls build a strong foundation and deep roots to become truly beautiful, resilient, loving, joyful, strong women who will make beautiful contributions of their choice and in their own perfect timing.

  • Instantly, author Peddie solidifies a heartwarming connection with readers. Author Sharon Caldwell Peddie’s passion for the development of healthy young women shines through her work in this book. Entirely an enjoyable and beneficial read, I found this book to be an invaluable guide, both empowering and encouraging for female readers of all ages.

-Lisa Brown Gilbert, Pacific Book Review

  • "The tone of the book is understanding and motherly but never clinical like some self-help guidance books. It reads like an intimate conversation between a mother and daughter, free of judgment.”

-Gabriella Tutino, The US Review of Books

  • "Throughout, the prose has the cheerleading tone of someone who hopes that her young female readers will succeed in finding self-respect and self-love. A major strength of the text is that it dwells on the positive potential of girls and women rather than on shaming them.” "An exuberantly written guide to becoming a strong young woman.”

    -Kirkus Reviews

  • "Peddie, clearly “gets” the struggles this population faces. Her solid, empathic statements—“I know fitting in with other girls is how you measure your social success,” and “I know the world aggressively tells you who you’re supposed to be and it leaves you feeling like you’re not enough” —neither dismiss nor condescend." "Thanks to Peddie’s comforting tone, this book serves as one big motherly pep talk.”
